Health Ministry
In 1993 the inception of the Turner Memorial A.M.E. Church Health Ministry was under the pastorate Reverend Edgar L. James and chaired by Mrs. Juanita Rogers. In 1998, Ms. Darlene Babil was appointed as Director.

Reverend James pictured the Health Ministry informing the congregation on medical issues of importance of the African-American community. The fourth Sunday of each month was designated to conduct blood pressure checks and glucose testing. The Health Ministry each year sponsors an annual health fair open to the community.
Upon the death of Reverend James in October 2000, the Reverend Darryl E. Walker was appointed pastor of Turner Memorial A.M.E. Church located at 600 I Street, NW. During Pastor Walker's tenure the Nurse's Unit ant the Health Ministry united on December 1, 2002.

Reverend Walker envisions a Health Ministry instrumental informing the congregation on medical issues of importance to the African-American community through literature, health classes and health care professionals speaking at Sunday services throughout the year.

With the union of the Health Ministry and the Nurses Unit both work together has health advocated for the congregation.
