SALVATION ARMY ANGEL TREE – The YPD of Turner is sponsoring the Salvation Army Angel Tree drive through Sunday, November 30th. We are soliciting your support and participation. There are flyers located in the narthex detailing the specifications of this drive. The Angel Tree is located in the sanctuary lobby hallway. Please see any member of the YPD Executive Board or the YPDer on duty for any questions you may have and to receive your personal angel/child. We are also accepting donations from those members who wish to contribute but are unable to go shopping. Thank you again for your continued support to the YPD and their endeavors.
NEW MEMBERS’ CLASSES – The remaining sessions of New Members’ Classes are scheduled for Sundays, November 16th, 23rd, and 30th at 9:45am to 10:45am and Saturday, December 6th at 9:45am to 12:00noon. Sunday, December 7th is the induction during the 10:00am worship service. All classes will meet in the I.A. Miller Chapel. Instructors are Rev. Barbara McKenzie, Rev. Adrian Young, Jr., Rev. Rosemarie Jones and Sis. Selerya O. Moore. Please bring your Bibles. All are welcome to attend.
BONE MARROW DRIVE – The Turner Memorial AME Church Health Ministry in conjunction with the Marrow Foundation is sponsoring a Marrow Drive screening on Saturday, November 22nd from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Anyone between the ages of 18 to 60 who meet the health guidelines is eligible to participate. For additional information please see the flyer in the narthex. STEWARD DAY – On Sunday, November 23rd the Steward Board of Turner Memorial AMEC will celebrate our Annual Steward Day. We are planning a day of worship and praise. Please join us for our 8:00am and 11:00am services, where our very own Pastor Walker will render the preached word. We will have a special afternoon service at 3:30pm. The guest preacher will be Rev. Ronald Boykin of First AMEC Manassas. He will bring his choir and congregation to share in this wonderful worship experience. We have also invited pastors and congregations from the Washington Conference to fellowship with us. Dinner will be served for everyone at no charge following the 11:00am worship service. The Stewards are confident that we can count on our Turner family’s attendance, prayers and support as we celebrate this joyous day.
OUTSTANDING LAY AWARD - To the Members of Turner Memorial: This year the Lay Organization has selected our Chaplain, Bro. Frank Dunn to receive the Outstanding Lay Award. The ceremonial luncheon will be held at the Washington Navy Yard, Saturday, December 20th, 12 noon - 3 p.m. Tickets are $35. Checks should be made payable to WCLO. ID is required. SUNDAY SCHOOL - The Sunday School will hold the annual Christmas Program on Sunday, December 21st. If you are interested in reading a poem, singing or playing a song or contributing your talent in some other way, please contact Maria Green-Hawkins or Gwendolyn Cauthen.
